Costa Cálida
The Costa Cálida is a strategic enclave in the south east of Spain situated between the provinces of Andalucía and Valencia. It incorporates the city of Murcia and the important towns of Cartegena, Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz.
The Costa Cálida benefits from a wonderful and very healthy climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year and the hot summers and mild winters give an annual average of 21 degrees centigrade.
The area is also well known as a golfing and water sports paradise, with at least 25 good quality golf courses presently being played or in construction and the Mar Menor allowing year round sailing, canoeing and windsurfing.
The Mar Menor is an internal sea, the only one of its kind in Europe, with shallow, calm, warm and salty waters. Ideal for bathing, sports and medicinal mineral treatments. It is deemed a special protected area of the Mediterranean by the United Nations and the area around it boasts all the infrastructure for a wonderful holiday experience.
Its beaches are perfect, there are numerous marinas, sailing schools, leisure centres, shops and restaurants. It is well connected, with Alicante airport, San Javier airport and the future Corvera airport all within 40 minutes. All of these airports are serviced by the budget airlines as well as the larger scheduled companies. It is well serviced by direct motorway and rail lines too, meaning that the rest of Spain is well within reach and ready to be enjoyed.
